Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of Buckingham County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a query means that you accept these terms. If you disagree with them, stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. Buckingham County Criminal History is privately operated and has no connection to a local, Virginia, or federal government agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource points visitors toward Buckingham County and Virginia criminal-record custodians. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of every government office. It does not hold official criminal records, obtain a record on a visitor's behalf, perform an official background check, or submit documents for anyone.

The content identifies real custodians of Buckingham County criminal records. They include the sheriff, the courts, the Virginia Department of State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange and Civil & Applicant Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Some pages also connect visitors with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is permitted only when it is lawful and does not interfere with the site or another person. You agree not to:

  • Use the service in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt to enter systems or data without authorization
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Disrupt performance or prevent another visitor from using the service

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information obtained here or through a linked tool may be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against someone. Such conduct is prohibited and can be criminal. The warning is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Registry information serves public-safety awareness, not vigilantism, employment blacklisting, housing discrimination, or retaliation against a listed person.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Buckingham County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It creates no credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its advertising partners likewise do not offer linked services for evaluating applicants, insurance risk, or creditworthiness. You must not use information from the site or a linked tool to:

  • Set insurance rates or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Make a hiring, discipline, or termination decision
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

Where a lawful purpose requires an official Virginia check, follow the authorized process of the Virginia State Police CCRE/CARE and obtain any consent required by law. For an FCRA-regulated purpose, use a properly compliant provider rather than this resource.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Buckingham County charge, conviction, warrant, expungement, or sealing rule applies to a specific person. Seek advice from a lawyer licensed in Virginia for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • An outside search partner will return complete or correct results
  • The pages will be free from defects, bugs, or security weaknesses
  • Operation will always be continuous or available
  • Published information will always be current, accurate, or complete

Criminal records can change after a charge is filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Delays and omissions are possible. Treat no statement here as an official certification from a Buckingham County court, sheriff, Virginia State Police, or another public body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may point to sheriff pages, Virginia court systems, state agencies, legal-aid groups, and outside search services. Following a link takes the visitor to a service outside this site's control. Buckingham County Criminal History is not responsible for that service's content, availability, fees, data practices, or accuracy. Review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos on the site belong to Buckingham County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Buckingham County Criminal History is not responsible for damages arising from use of the site, including reliance on information supplied here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the service or your violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Virginia. References to public records follow the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., while criminal-history dissemination is governed by Code § 19.2-389.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised at any time. A new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, every other provision remains in force. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
